Description of the issue:
I used both Wayfarer (left) and Scaniverse (right) to scan an outdoor environment in front of a building. The quality from Scaniverse seems much better than Wayfarer (Higher fidelity, More accurate floor bike stand in the corner, flat surface on the ground). But I can’t use the generated mesh from Scaniverse in VPS Authoring. How to improve the scan quality in Wayfarer, or can we use the mesh file export from Scaniverse instead?
Hello, I’m not certain if it will help you ,but on the following website: Lightship VPS: Engineering the World’s Most Dynamic 3D AR Map – Niantic Labs
It’s mentionned that “If the phone has a LiDAR sensor, we capture a high-resolution 3D view of the player’s surroundings, which helps determine the distance of sculptures, buildings, trees and other objects.” Unfortunately, I do not possess a device eqquiped with a LiDAR sensor, so I’m unable to test it. Additionally, adopting a more optimal walking pattern around the location could potentially yield better results. You will also find more about this in the link I sent before.
Hello,
As far as using a Scaniverse scan for VPS authoring, it is not a supported workflow but you’re more than free to give it a try. If you download the mesh from the geospatial browser, open it in the remote content authoring assistant, and then layer the Scaniverse scan over it, you can use it for authoring purposes.
Please do note that mileage may vary with this method and we don’t provide assistance if there are any issues since it’s not a supported workflow.
As for the question on the quality of Wayfarer vs. Scaniverse, I can’t get an answer on that at the moment but I’ll make sure to get back to you once I do.
