How to stop flickering between instantiated anchors and scanned VPS environment

Include the following details (edit as applicable):

  • Issue category: VPS
  • Device type & OS version: Android 9
  • Host machine & OS version: Windows 10
  • Issue Environment : Unity Mock / On Device
  • ARDK version: 2.5.2
  • Unity version: 2021.3.1f LTS

Description of the issue:

Hi, I have successfully instantiated anchors on a private VPS scan.

The anchors are placed so that the VPS scan mesh are colliding with the anchors, which seems to be creating flickering:

Is there a way to remove the flickering from colliding objects?

I have tried applying the objects to different layers which removes the flickering (if they are all assigned to the same layer), but enables the instantiated anchors “infront” of the VPS scanned environment.

I would like the skeleton to have its feet through the ground, without the flickering:

Hi Pontus,

We have an article that goes over some solutions for problems like this. Check out “How to stop real surfaces from covering up AR surfaces.” The article goes over z-fighting which is essentially the issue you’re faced with but in the specifics of AR and real-life surfaces. Hopefully that helps!

Kind Regards,
Maverick L.

Hi Maverick,

Thank you for your answer! I have taken a look at the article you have referred to, and I will continue the discussion there.

Sincerely, Pontus Jakobsson
