Improving Scan Quality for Better Wayspots Localization

Description of the issue:

Hello Lightship Dev Community,

I have been having some difficulty with my scans, as I can’t seem to achieve more than a “fair” quality level for my wayspots. Consequently, I am facing some localizability issues. As recommended in the documentation, I have been trying to perform high-quality scans at different times of the day and varying the types of scans. Yet, every time I change my scanning method (from further away, from higher up, etc.), the quality analysis downgrades from “good” to “fair”, prompting me to decide not to upload the result.

My question is, should I keep making scans - and should I upload even the ones not of maximum quality? Or is there another scanning method I might have missed? Maybe another app?

I appreciate any insights or advice you could provide on this matter. I am eager to improve and learn how to make the most out of this technology.

Thank you in advance.

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

While your scans don’t have to be perfect, we would highly suggest using our Scanning Best Practices guide to get the highest quality scans. Keep in mind that the more data the better, so a bunch of “Fair” quality scans is better than a few “Good” quality scans.

It looks like you might have started a support thread on Discord. Would you prefer to communicate here or on Discord?

Best,
Maverick L.
