VPS Activation Failed again

Issue Environment: 8th wall VPS/Scaniverse developer mode

Description of the issue:
I’ve been blocked for several days due to repeated VPS activation failures for a new location I’m setting up.

  • Location ID: 87a72874ccfe3df081dba81778c7dbd0.16

  • Wayspot Name: “Building’s parking lot”

  • Timeline:

    • Completed all required scans on Oct 15, 2025.

    • The initial activation stayed in “Processing” for over 24 hours.

    • After contacting support@nianticspatial.com, they identified an issue, applied a fix, and re-triggered activation.

    • After another 35-48 hours, the activation failed again with a message stating “We have attempted to activate this location but the mapping process was unsuccessful. This could be a result of a number of factors, such as poor suitability of the location for VPS, insufficient scans, or corrupt data. Contact Support

I’ve now been blocked for 3 full days, not including the scanning day, and I can’t continue development.

Before I go out and perform another 10 + scans, I’d like to understand:

  • Can it be activated as I see other people posting about the same problem and getting it activated on the 2nd or 3rd time.

  • What caused the repeated activation failure?

  • Is it a site suitability issue, scan quality issue, or an internal processing failure?

  • Can someone from the team provide specific guidance or diagnostics so I can correct the issue and proceed confidently?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible please .

These and similar issues were repeatedly discussed on the now deceased VPS Activators Pilot program. This program was supposed to enhance understanding of what kind of information should be open to the user. Clearly it failed and we were never told the results of this program, nor any long-term plans and feedback of it.
