Generated QR code does not link Scaniverse with GSB

Issue category: ARDK Documentation
Device type & OS version: Android Xiaomi 11T Pro
Host machine & OS version: Windows 11
Issue Environment: 8th wall / Scaniverse

Hello,

I have been following documentation instructions (Scaniverse for Lightship | Niantic Spatial Platform) to create a VPS enabled location but have hit a snag because the QR code generated to contribute more scans to an existing public location / to link my scaniverse and GSB just leads to a link to download the Scaniverse app, which I already have installed (latest version, 4.0.6). I have tried logging in and out of both scaniverse and 8th wall and reinstalling scaniverse app.

Images:

  1. What I scanned
  2. The error message I see on mobile when scanning the QR code
  3. When copying the link from the error message to my browser, I get redirected to a page with QR code to download the Scaniverse app which is already installed.

My goal is to create a Location Specific Animation for mobile AR using scaniverse + 8th wall

Any advice appreciated!
Amy

Hi Amy,

Have you tried other QR codes? Under normal operation, the QR code opens the Scaniverse app, so it’s not necessarily tied to one Wayspot.

I did want to ask where you saw that QR code; I’m looking at one in the Geospatial Browser, and its layout looks a little different

Hello,

Here’s a link to the specific statue that I want to contribute more scans to activate a VPS, where I got the QR code. It was in the Geospatial Browser: Geospatial Browser - Account - Niantic Lightship
I tried scanning a QR code from a nearby point GSB instead which has allowed me to login on my phone, thanks for the tip! I will go try to scan the statue again next time I’m nearby.
